You probably aren't used to having to think this hard about where your food comes from — but when even a trip to the grocery store is an ordeal, local farmers and growers are working to feed the demand.

How shortages and supply-chain issues are impacting them, the unexpected items they've begun stocking next to their regular produce and why farmers might be the best equipped of all of us to get through this pandemic (even the ones who studied theater and welding).

GIVE US A SHOUT:
We’re working on an upcoming episode about people who work in the food industry: what’s life been like for you? What do you wish customers — or your employers — knew?

You can remain anonymous if you’d like, we just want to hear from you. Send a typed message or a voice memo recording to podcasts@ksdk.com or call and leave a message at 314-254-2667. Messages must be received by June 2.

Restaurants in Missouri are now able to reopen — so, now what? We'll take you inside (sort of) the local places where you haven't been able to snag a table for months to show you how it looks a little different. Find out why they've decided now is the time to reopen, and tell you the rules you should follow if you go out.

During the coronavirus pandemic, restaurants have been among the hardest hit economically — yet a band of local restaurateurs are still rolling up their sleeves and getting the job done to feed front line health care workers.

Meals for Meds is doing important work and the program just got a shot in the arm thanks to Chef Jose Andres’ Frontline Foods initiative. Hear how this effort has helped keep cash flowing at local restaurants and why the owner of Knead Bakehouse and Provisions says it’s brought the restaurant community even closer together (plus her tips on baking with your family and getting your sourdough to rise properly!)
